Manhattan-based artist Kathleen Erin Lee grew up on Long Island and began her formal art training at The Stevenson Academy of Traditional Painting in Sea Cliff, NY. She received a BA in Art History from C.W. Post College. Lee continued her studies at The National Academy of Design and The Art Students League, studying figure and portrait painting. Her interest in plein air painting brought her to Monhegan Island, Maine where she studied with nationally recognized landscape and seascape artist, Don Stone. Lee’s travels have taken her to the Greek Islands, Ireland, France, Mexico, New Mexico and throughout New England to paint plein air scenes. She was awarded an artist residency in the Aland Islands, Finland in June 2006.
Lee teaches art on a part-time basis in a private school in Manhattan.
Prior to becoming a full-time painter Lee had a successful career in product development and licensing at Children’s Television Workshop. As Director of International Product Development she travelled extensively throughout Europe and Asia creating Sesame Street products with licensees.
